It seems that the recent dual release of Don and Jaan-E-Mann has got many producers worried.
Both films fared well below average around a busy holiday period, and now producers are tentative and hesitant, when it comes to releasing their film at the same time as another biggie.
For this same reason, Mani Ratnam’s highly anticipated Guru, has been moved to the final week of December. But, there are possibilites that it may release in 2007 and not in 2006. An actual release date has yet to be confirmed.
If the film had released on 22nd December, which was its actual release date, it would have clashed with Priyadarshan comedy Bhagam Bhag.
In other release date news, YashRaj have moved Tara Rum Pum 4 months ahead, from January to April 2007. The reason for this has not been disclosed.
However, YashRaj will release Kabir Khan’s Kabul Express on 15th December, one week before Bhagam Bhag.
What are your thoughts on these change of dates? Do you think the release date of a film affects its final outcome at the Box Office, or is it just pure speculation? Will a GOOD film do well at whatever time of the year it releases, and against whichever other release?
Leave your thoughts below.
