EXCLUSIVE REVIEW BY HANUMANT BHANSALI
Directed by Manish Acharya, ‘Loins of Punjab Presents’ is a a sincere attempt at making a good film with a compatible star cast, comprising of names like Shabana Azmi, Michael Raimondi, and Seema Rahmani among others.
The film highlights an interesting plot, not witnessed quite often in Hindi cinema. The storyline will reflect the taste of the classes than the masses as the comic elements are intelligently passed from one character to another.
The editing is slick but leaves the viewers desiring for a better outcome. The real life scenario is well placed, leaving little space for improvization. It is not often than one smiles at the sarcastic form of comedy and ‘Loins Of Punjab Presents’ tries to do exactly that.
So, is it all that we need from a cinema? No, because the film is good but lacks in terms of cinematic experience on a whole. One feels like watching a stage show during the film. The images are still and the camera movement is given the least importance.
The film is simple in this methodology which doesn’t quite emphasise on the twists and turns prevalent in almost every other film made nowadays. For me, there needs to be a certain zing in the storyline which can keep me glued to my seat throughout.
