Earlier titled as Chooriyan, Lagaa Chunari Mein Daag is the second directorial venture of Pradeep Sarkar after making an impressive debut with Vidya Balan starrer Parineeta. The film is being made under the Yash Raj Banners. The story of Lagaa Chunari Mein Daag has been conceptualised and penned by Aditya Chopra.
The film basically reveals the struggle of a small town girl who goes on to sacrifice her soul for the well being of her family.
Badki (Rani) and Chutki (Konkana) live the life to fullest in the sacred shadows of Banaras. Badki, alongwith her mother Sabitri (Jaya Bachchan) are very protective about Chutki. Things worsen in their family which makes Badki to goto Mumbai to earn a living.
Badki’s biggest challenge is yet to come as she gives it all to keep the lamp glowing back home. There, Chutki completes her education and shifts to Mumbai to make a living.
A missile explodes when the two meet each other in a drastic situation which speaks all but against Badki.
Badki has the world shattered in front of her. This time she needs someone to rise her from the sinking ship of sacrifice.
