EXCLUSIVE REVIEW BY HANUMANT BHANSALI
Pooja Bhatt directed Dhokha is treated as an attempt to visualize and bring forward the harsh realities of terrorism. The film is intense in its approach which will not cater to audience looking for mass entertainment.
The film leaves a message of sensitivity, love, responsibility and unity, which at times are forgotten.
The plot of Dhokha revolves around a young and brilliant Muslim police officer Zaid Ahmed (Muzammil Ahmed) in Mumbai. He is admired for his honesty towards his work. He is accustomed to the frequent incidents of bombings and violence in the city and works hard to bring life back to normal.
He breaks down as he finds the body of his wife Sarah (Tulip Joshi) amidst the blood stained bodies at the New Century Club. The police declares that Sarah was one of the suicide bombers who worked on the grounds of terrorism. Zaid is torn completely on his personal side. The wounds found on Sarah’s body add to the overall element of suspicism.
Later, Sarah is held as the prime reason for the calamitous bombing. Zaid is still to come of the deceit given by his beloved to him.
Film maker Pooja Bhatt has chosen an unconventional subject to spill the true colours of terrorist activities prevailing in the society. Dhokha probes hard hitting issues that have been hurting the sentiments of people of various communities.
The film is a sincere attempt at bringing out the various aspects of brooding anger spread amidst religional harmony. It is completely untrue that the film is anti-Muslim as it projects its theme in a careful way, balancing the right acts together.
