EXCLUSIVE REVIEW BY HANUMANT BHANSALI
I was baffled to hear the sour outings of Victoria No 203. Barring the title track, there is not even a single song to boast about. This remake of the 70s hit has Viju Shah, of Mohra fame, as a composer. Musically, it meets my expectations of a sinful soundtrack, which is bound to create bubbles of agony in the minds of its listeners.
Victoria No 203 (Singer: Dominique) Rating: 6/10
The soundtrack springs up a surprise in the very beginning. The twist in this title track are its English lyrics, which follow the initial Hindi words. Penned by Asif Ali Baig, crooned by Dominique, Victoria 203 is a well poised track with its mystique nature. The song will particularly help in the narration to create suspense in the storyline.
Do Bechare (Singer: Amit Kumar, Udit Narayan) Rating: 4/10
Do Bechare is the track taken from the original Victoria made in the 70s. The music has been revisited by Viju Shah. The song has been picturized on Anupam Kher and Om Puri, who lip sing on the lines of Udit Narayan and Amit Kumar. Udit’s rendition fails to grasp the fun filled mood of the track, leading it to be a below average affair.
Deedani (Singers: Shaan, Shreya Ghoshal) Rating: 3/10
Deedani is a painful composition, with top rated vocalists failing to create the romantic mood for the track. Composer Viju Shah is the main culprit as he lends a dull rhythm to follow the classical notes in this track. Deedani turns out to be a sore output from Victoria No 203.
Thoda Sa Thehro (Singer: Shreya Ghoshal) Rating: 4/10
Thoda Sa Thero is touted to be sensuous number from the soundtrack that has offered little for the music lovers so far. Other than a few poetic words from lyricist Indiwar, one doesn’t find the emotional magnetism in the notes. Musically, Viju Shah makes a decent impact by amalgamating vintage flavour with westernized potshots.
Zindagi Aa Gayi (Singer: Zubin) Rating: 4/10
We come to the last song of the album with Zindagi Aa Gayi. Rendered by Zubin Garg, Zindagi Aa Gayi belongs to the club genre with a slight Punjabi feel given in the form of beats. The tune sounds baseless and extremely ordinary, making Zindagi.. a soulless musical outing.
