Amidst conflicting reports that she was offered the role of Sophie in ‘Pink Panther’ before Aishwariya Rai signed up for it, here comes one more.
Shilpa, who has become quite popular in the West after ‘Big Brother’, was apparently offered a role in one more movie. Reports suggest that the 32-year-old actress was approached to act in a comedy flick ‘Quick, Slip Me A Bride’. However, the makers cancelled their plans to cast her after she apparently quoted a price too high!
A website quoted the producer Renu Patel saying, “Shilpa agreed to film with us. Now we have been forced to go ahead without her because she wanted 350,000 pounds and insisted half of this had to be paid before she even shot any scene.” Reportedly, Shilpa had also asked them to postpone the shoot till next year, which the producer was not willing to do.
Shilpa’s spokesperson Dale Bhagwagar admitted that Shilpa did quote her price. ” Shilpa asks for what she deserves and she even gets what she deserves. Having said that, money is not always the criteria why an assignment doesn’t work out. There could be a difference of opinion about the role or a problem with dates,” replied Dale.
“To my knowledge, for this film, the dates clashed with that of her musical. Shilpa is scheduled to perform her broadway musical premiering in Germany in about a month, after which the musical will travel to UK, US and Australia,” he added.
This could have been have been Shilpa’s first British film. As of now, Shilpa is working in Uru Patel’s ‘Hanuman’, where she is playing Sita. The makers are in talks with Keanu Reaves to play the role of Lord Ram.
