Now, however, the Indian market seems to be following suit. The latest game on the block being ‘Bollywood Buckwaas’, a game where the player is Salman Khan who loses in case he happens to shoot a black buck.
“Video games are a passion for today’s youth. In fact, for some it’s even the number one priority and their interaction with video games is very high. Any idea or message given out via this medium is like hitting the nail right on its head,” says Alok Kejriwal, founder and CEO of games2win.com who are responsible for this game.
However, not everyone seems to be impressed with the new venture. Many feel it’s of little help when you look at the larger picture. “It still involves killing one way or the other, which in turn fuels aggressive instincts. The best way is still commuciation,” says psychologist Seema Hingorrany.
But Kejriwal agrues, “Any passion that consumes the mindset is seen in bad light. It’s very clear that the video gaming is a rage and it’s perfectly okay till time you don’t abandon everything else for it. After all, excess of anything is bad,” argues Kejriwal.
Model-turned-actor Milind Soman feels any kind of concern for the society is welcome, irrespective of the medium used for it. “If anyone is doing anything to help society and help people live a better life, I think it’s great. They are always welcome, no matter what others say for the simple reason that there aren’t enough people who are doing their bit for the society. If the intention is good, what’s the harm?” he asks.
