Production house Pritish Nandy Communications has struck a major deal by aquiring the rights to remake Sholay for a shattering amount of $100 million.

PNC has decided to publicise Sholay as the biggest brand in the galactic world of Hindi cinema. The production house will not only remake Sholay, but also do an animated version of the original film, and then a prequel and a sequel.

Till date, G P Sippy, chairman of Sholay Media and Entertainment had refused to sell the Sholay rights to major Indian production houses, and a few international studios too. According to an industry insider, “Ram Gopal Varma also asked them for the rights. But they turned him down.” And we thought, RGV Ki Aag is going to be the closest take on Sholay. Wholla!
