There is a movie out already with a soccer player making it to a english premire soccer team out. In fact there is a second one out as well where the player makes it to the spanish league. I think he would be copying something that is already out the only difference will be that the main character will be Indian and not Mexican. Maybe he should try it on a different sport. This has been done before.
