Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film on the other hand is a period love story set in the pre-independence era between a Hindu boy played by Ranbir Kapoor and a Muslim girl played by Sonam Kapoor.
His favourite actor, Salman Khan also has a brief but important role in the film. Rani Mukherji has been cast in the cameo role of a nautch girl in Sawariya. So which one will rake in the moolah at the box office? And which will attract critical acclaim? It will be all for there to see, in a few months from now.

Well the first round seems to be have won by OSO. I mean the music. Sanjay always gave excellent music for every movie..but saawariya is one helluva letdown.I am not a composer..but just talk from the point of view of a person who listens and wud buy a cd. It almost has not variety..i expected so much more. Hope the movie doesnt be a downer too!!
When it comes to srk..there is no escaping the man. U see him everywhere. And i aint dumb to say ‘oh he is paying them ALL’. He sells well…people want to see him. Class and Mass. Well the ‘classes’ liked 15th park avenue and the masses ‘black’!! loll. A good entertainer will sell!!

OSO will only be a hit because of SRK. Sawariya looks more of a well made movie with a pretty good star cast plus one heck of a director! Nevertheless.. SRK is my king and hope the movie does well. But I’m still very excited about watching Sawariya! Wish both movies the best! Both very anticipated!

O is going to be a definite hit as the biggest USP of the film is King Khan himself.Sawariya on the other hand is going to be a stylish extravaganza in terms of costume and set design(cinematography).I believe SLB will have to have a strong script to pull in the masses.

Om Shanti Om starts with ‘Din- e-elahi’. Not against any rreligion but you have to be honest with the audience. The majority likes ‘Om’, not elahi.

Have just seen Sawariay, it is a super FLOP. This was absolutely not expected from Sanjay Leela Bhanshali. Since it was the opening day theaters were full but half of the theatre emptied out before interval. People were cursing Sanjay for wasting their time and money ………

To tell you the truth I’m not very excited about OSO. as for Sawariya, I just only saw it last night and all I can say is WOW!. Moulin Rouge meets Fyodor Dostoyevsky. For newcomers both the Kapoor clans offspring sure gave a great performance considering it was their first time on screen. They aptly portrayed the innocence and excitement of the emotion of love. The cinematography was beautiful, the art direction, photographic direction and sound track very creative.
I especially enjoyed the the little quirks each character had, Gulabji’s English, Raj’s little skippy dance, Lillianji’s mumblings to herself. Every quirk defined it’s character.
I only felt that Rani Mukharji’s role should have been advertised more during pre release. Salman Khan only appears for a total of 4 sequences in the entire movie and I saw a lot of him in the pre release advertising. Maybe I’m wrong or I didn’t notice her before but, I was surprised to see her as I was totally unaware that she was in the film.
One would like to believe it’s a story of a Muslim girl and Hindu boy but it actually isn’t at all. There is no mention to religious differences at all except is their names i.e Raj and Sakina. It’s more about the the emotion of love, the innocent unadulterated kind and how one acts and feels when one is in love.
Om Shanti Om might make it big commercially no doubt but Sawariya has a class that OSO will never have. My suggestion to Mr. Bhansali… put Sawariya into every international film festival you can. It will fare much better because honestly speaking Indian cinema and the Indian masses are just not ready for a phenomenon and a masterpiece like Sawariya.
