EXCLUSIVE REVIEW BY HANUMANT BHANSALI
The scenario has changed, the stories are evolving and so is the music of the films. Riding high on the concept vehicle, Chak De India is made under the Yash Raj Banners by Shimit Amit. The soundtrack is composed by the very talented Salim-Sulaiman and the lyrics have been penned by Jaideep Sahni. The music is not the kind one would expect from the labels of Yash Raj. Certainly, much is left for the film to pull in crowds on the star power of Shah Rukh Khan.
Chak De India (Singers: Sukhwinder Singh, Salim Merchant, Marianne D’Cruz)
Rating: 7/10
Enter Chak De India, and you are invited to groove on a new anthem which is bound to rise steadily on the chartbusters. Sukhwinder Singh evokes energy and liveliness into the song which has Salim Merchant and Marianne D’Cruz singing in the background. The lyrics present the highs of India and its gifted skill to rise to glory even in the most unfavourable conditions.

Badal Pe Paon Hai (Singer: Hema Sardesai)
Rating: 5/10
Choosy Hema Sardesai renders her melodious voice to Badal Pe Paon Hain, which has a redundant feel carried throughout the track. The song has been composed over a set of western musical arrangements soothing to make a melody. The song evokes no excitement to attract a second hearing.

Ek Hockey Doongi Rakh Ke (Singers: Shah Rukh Khan, KK)
Rating: 6/10
Composed like an introductory track, Ek Hockey Doongi Rakh Ke, has narrative instincts from Shah Rukh Khan and the whole of woman’s hockey team of Chak De India. Shah Rukh opens up with a brief about each and every player in the team, followed by a interesting narration by the players themselves. KK enters only towards the end to sing the three golden words ‘Chak De India’. The song reappears in a trendy Hockey Mix, an pacy avtar by Midival Punditz (Gaurav Rana, Tapan Raj). The remix can be left on the racks of the hockey shelf, letting it bite the dust.
