A popular UK Asian TV channel has refused to promote the upcoming Sunny Deol starer ‘Kaafila’ (starring Sunny Deol) over ZEE Network’s involvement in the project.
ZEE Network holds the worldwide rights to distribute the film, which is releasing on Friday 10th August. The film promos currently being screened on various channels cleverly display the ZEE Network logo, which the rival channel, in question, has refused to show on its own service.
Previously, ZEE Network’s movie ‘Gadar Ek Prem Katha’ proved a runaway box office hit and rival TV networks were forced to screen promotional footage for the film no matter what. So what will the opposing channel(s) do if ‘Kaafila’ also proves similarly well?
Coincidently, Yash Raj Films will be releasing its latest movie ‘Chak De! India’ on the same day as ‘Kaafila’ and it’s a known fact Sony Entertainment Television Asia has in the past pulled out all the stops to promote all Yash Raj movie productions because of its exclusive distribution - telecast tie up.
