‘The Artist’ is one Bollywood film that is based on the world of Indian theatre. So what’s new in that? The highlight of the film lies in its debutant actors Sunil Vyas and Mamta Bhatia who play 22 characters in the story of a night.
Interestingly, the storyline of ‘The Artist’ has been penned by Sunil, along with the added responsibility of a director. Mamta Bhatia, not to be left behind, is the producer of the film.
In total, Sunil portrays 17 whereas Mamta plays 5 characters in the film.
The storyline revolves around a story of a night where the couple is stuck in an auditorium. The screenplay is blossomed with the series of events that happen in that one night. And of course, there is love which they find only in the end.
To add brightness and variety to the concept, Sunil and Mamta will wear different colourful costumes for all the 22 characters.
According to Mamta, “The film’s strongest USP is its concept. I had a tough time juggling six roles, five onscreen and one off screen as a producer. I never wanted to act in my debut venture as a producer but it was Vyas who convinced me.”
Director Sunil Vyas decided not to speak much about the film at this moment. All he said was, “I have tried to live all 17 characters to my full capabilities as an artist.”
