Movie Review: Tere Sang
Producer: Sony Pictures
Director: Satish Kauhsik
Cast: Ruslaan Mumtaz and Sheena Shahabadi
Music: Sachin-Jigar
Satish Kaushik, the man who is widely known for churning out dramatic and entertainer projects, emerges this time with a touching and emotional saga that reveals the evils of society. He is the one, who knows how to unzip and polish the new talents and that he does with this film. Apparently it looks as if it follows the lines of Preity Zinta starrer Kya Kenha but it does not follow it though it resembles a bit. There are some portions that make this real story look filmy and here this loses it values.
In short, Tere Sang is fresh and interesting but not an extraordinary material.
Maahi (Sheena Shahabadi) is a bubbly vivacious 15 years old girl from Delhi. She is the only child of the Puri family (Rajat Kapoor and Neena Gupta). Belonging to an affluent family, she has all comforts in life. Kabir (Ruslaan Mumtaz), is a 17 years old boy, belongs to a middle class family (Satish Kaushik and Sushmita Mukherjee). Both become friends. On a camping trip on New Year’s Eve, they get intimate. Maahi gets pregnant. What follows next is what she, her boyfriend and the families face?
Satish Kaushik delivers the goods aptly on screen. The first half is catchy. The execution of the subject is brilliant tat you love being with it. The passionate kiss between the lovers is what entices the viewers a lot. The second half is not appealing and becomes problematic. The kids elope and the warring parents become enemies of each other’s blood and so much of this ilk happens. When the film comes in the penultimate portion, the viewer takes a sigh of relief because at this juncture, it arrives on its track. The moment, the girl calls her father and gets straight, from here onwards, the moviegoer finds it interesting.
There are flaws in writing nonetheless the film is one of Kaushik’s best works. Sachin Jigar’s music seems spongy.
Ruslaan looks confident in his acting. Sheena is top notch. Rajat Kapoor plays brilliant. Neea Gupta displays good acting. Satish Kaushik plays well. Others fit the bill as well.
On the whole, Tere Sang is interesting but a good business at the box office cannot be predicted. To churn out lucrative results at the ticketing windows, word of mouth publicity is required.
