Cast: Saif Ali Khan and Deepika Padukone
Music Director: Pritam Chakraborty
Lyricist: Irshad Kamil
Saif Ali Khan’s debut home production, ‘Love Aaj Kal’ has been making waves in the news since the outset. Big ways are about the girlfriend Kareena Kapoor, as she is not in the film and others are for Saif’s role of a Sikh in the flick. Imtiaz Ali is the director of this movie. After giving a hit album, ‘Jab We Met’, Imtiaz Ali collaborates with the musician Pritam again for this soundtrack of ‘Love Aaj Kal’. So let’s check it out whether this one has also the delicious melodies to stay with…
1): Aahun Aahun (Neeraj Shridhar)
The album starts with ‘Aahun Aahun’ that has an electrifying touch with the spongy guitar strings. Neeraj sings it with boisterous skills. It is a fusion of both Indian and western beats. Lyrics are fantastic and the music is energetically great.
Rating: 8/10
2): Aahun Aahun – Remix
The remix version equally entices the souls.
Rating: 8/10
3): Aaj Din Chadeyya (Rahat Fateh Ali Khan)
Rahat Fateh Ali Khan is the singer, who always gives hits. Whenever he comes behind the mike, the song becomes a chartbuster. He is that vocalist, everyone trusts him blindly. So in this album, he sings ‘Aaj Din Chadeyya’. With such a fine quality of voice and displaying his vast experience of classical music, Rahat croons the track with much finesse. This romantic number will surely become popular amongst the listeners. Lyrics are well penned and music is squashy.
Rating: 9/10
4): Chor Bazari (Sunidhi Chauhan and Neeraj Sridhar)
Sunidhi Chauhan and Neeraj Sridhar both team up to render ‘Chor Bazari’. The number begins with foot tapping peppy music, which glides on you instantly. The lyrics herewith this song fail to register impact but music is good.
Rating: 6/10
5): Chor Bazari – Remix Version
The remix version spoils the pleasures. No energy level could be found in it.
Rating: 1/10
6): Main Kya Hoon (KK)
The fast paced song, ‘Main Kya Hoon’ is sung by KK, who does justice with the rendition. The lyrics hold values and so does the music.
Rating; 7/10
7): Thoda Thoda Pyar (Sunidhi Chauhan)
Up next is ‘Thoda Thoda Pyar’ sung by Sunidhi, who very skillfully dolls up the job. It has a Punjabi flavour attached to it that raises the spirits. Lyrics display the mood well and the composition is a treat to listen to.
Rating: 7/10
8): Twist (Neeraj Sridhar)
The high on beats number comes next sung by Neeraj who croons it well. It is intermingled with the song “Ek pardesi mera dil le gaya” from the 1958 film ” Phagun”.
Rating: 6.5/10
9): Twist – Remix
The remix version is good to hear as well.
Rating: 6/10
10): Yeh Dooriyan (Mohit Chauhan)
Mohit Chauhan gets the concluding number to warble it. He sings it with conviction but is letdown by the lyrics and the music.
Rating: 3/10
Conclusion:
On the whole, ‘Love Aaj Kal’ is a spongy and melodious album. Except two tracks, the rest of the soundtrack is worth listening. Grab your copy now.
