Music: Pritam
Yash Raj Films’ New York finally arrives in theaters. Starring John Abraham, Katrina Kaif, Neil Nitin Mukesh and Irrfan Khan, the movie is directed by Kabir Khan. The flick has been well in new since the outset.
The film talks about Omar (Neil Nitin Mukesh) whom FBI picks up and then detained for arms, which are found in his taxi. Behind this, there is a well planned set up designed by FBI officer Roshan (Irrfan Khan) and his boss so that they could agree Omar to work as an undercover agent for them and infiltrate the family, the life of Samir (John Abraham) and Maya (Katrina Kaif) who were Omar’s college friends 7-8 years ago. Roshan belives that Samir runs a terrorsim cell so he likes to arrest him red handedly. Now Omar has no option at all but to follow FBI. But he sets a condition to them that they will not kill Samir if he surrenders.. Many years back, when the trio was good buddies, Omar used to love Maya but when she expressed her feelings for Samir, he faded away. Samir and Maya are married now and have a little kid named Danielle. When Omar meets both, what truth he finds is what forms the rest of the story!
After Chak De India, Yash Raj Films were yearning for a success and expectations are high that with New York, they will see the success. It can easily be compared to Hollywood film. For the Bollywood audineces, it would be a good experience to stay with. The film raises your interest level from the opening scene till the end reel. You get glued to the screen throughout the flow of the film and there is no moment at all when you feel bored.. And that’s the worth and beauty of the movie. The scenes between Neil and Irrfan during the interogation are marvelous. The sequences of John are superb and well captured. The scenes of tortures are what send shiver inside you.
The cinemotography is a work of class. Shot entirely in the US, the camera work is wonderful. The story and screenplay is what is called the life of the film. The direction by Kabir Khan is extremely fantaistic. He has masterly delivered the story on the celluloid. Pritam’s music is melodious and catchy.
Neil Nitin Mukesh enacts brilliantly. He is improving with every coming film. John Abraham showed his class and it can safely be called one of his best performnces till date. Katrina Kaif, though look gorgeous as usual, but also does a meaty role with aplomb. Irrfan Khan is worth to watch. Rest of the cast is great as well.
On the whole, New York is a MUST watch. Go and buy the tickets.
