Short Kut’s music is out in the market now having the talented trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy as the musicians and the legendary Javed Akhtar as a lyricist. It’s an Anil Kapoor’s production that features Akshaye Khanna, Arshad Warsi and Amrita Rao in the lead. Let’s check it out the outcome.
1): Kal Nau Baje (Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik)
Sonu Nigam and Alka Yagnik open the album singing a romantic number, ‘Kal Nau Baje’. Potentially a melodious track since it has great vocals of the experienced singers, this will hit the listeners’ hearts. The lyrics are good and so is the music.
Rating: 7/10
2): Kyun Hota Hai Dil Deewana (Javed Ali and Shreya Ghosal)
Javed Ali and Shreya Ghosal sing this number. They render it well but are letdown by the poor lyrics and the mundane composition. So leave it aside.
Rating: 2.5/10
3): Mareeze Mohabbat (Nikita Nigam, Kirti Sagathia, Hrishikesh Kamerkar and Shankar Mahadevan)
Sonu Nigam’s sister Nikita Nigam along with Kirti Sagathia, Hrishikesh Kamerkar and Shankar Mahadevan team up to deliver this track. All appear good with the renditions. It has Indian and Western touches to attract the listener. The lyrics appeal. The composition, fusion of Indian and Western beats, glide well on the music buffs. Yes, you may press the repeat button over and again.
Rating: 8/10
4): Mareeze Mohabbat – Remix Version
The remix version is not behind the original and sends the chill through the body aptly.
Rating: 8/10
5): Patli Gali (Shanker Mahadevan)
Shankar Mahadevan comes behind the mike to croon the track and attracts the listeners with his voice quality but the below average work of lyrics and the poor music spoil the pleasures of his marvelous singing.
Rating: 2.5/10
6): Patli Gali (Shanker Mahadevan)
The remix version follows the paths of the original and coerces you to skip it at once.
Rating: 1/10
Conclusion:
Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy’s music is what is acknowledged and heard a lot. But what happened to the talented trio of the musicians this time around? Weird! Anyway, a poor piece of work. Avoid buying it.
Overall Rating: 3.5/10
