EXCLUSIVE REVIEW BY HANUMANT BHANSALI
Sudhir Mishra, an affirmed name in the field of film direction has shown his grip over powerful storylines in films like Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin (1996), Calcutta Mail (2003), Chameli (2003) and Hazaaron Khwaishein Aisi (2005) to name a few.
With Khoya Khoya Chand, Sudhir has tried to relive the enchanting affect of the 1950s and 60s era. Made on a wide spectrum, the moments in the film are justified but the scenes go overboard in trying to explain the meaning in detail.
Earlier titled as ‘Bahut Nikle Mere Armaan’, Khoya Khoya Chand has been made under the banners of Holi Cow Pictures, owned by Prakash Jha.
Set against the bright and romantic background of 1960s which are considered as golden years of Hindi cinema, the film fails to carry the myst with itself that crosses the boundaries of ethnic and modern society.
The plot of Khoya Khoya Chand revolves around Zafar, played by Shiney Ahuja. Zafar is a writer and a director. He saves Nikhat (Soha Ali Khan) from the harsh terms of superstar Prem Kumar (Rajat Kapoor). They end up falling passionately in love with each other.
Its unlikely for an individual to look over the sets and glossy adventure in a few scenes to oversee the deficienies in the complete storyline.
The film is poorly edited as it leaves close to half an hour of boredom for the viewers. The theme revolves around Indian cinema in the early days, thereby disecting the concept to a interested few.
