Shiney Ahuja was produced before the metropolitan court in Andheri on Monday afternoon. Fifty state reserve police force (SRPF) personnel and cops from the local police station were deployed to control the huge crowd gathered in the court premises.
As soon as Shiney, clad in a yellow T-shirt and black jeans; his face covered with a black cloth, was brought to the court around 1.45 pm, several mediapersons pounced on him. It almost led to a stampede, but the cops whisked Shiney away into the courtroom of magistrate KR Chaudhary.
The actor’s father, wife Anupam, and a family friend were present in the courtroom. They tried their best to evade the media.
During the 15 minutes in the courtroom, Shiney had his head bowed, and did not utter a single word. His advocate Shrikant Shivade told the court, "This is not a case of murder, in which the weapon needs to be found in order to seek police custody. My client was interrogated by the police since last night, but there is no article or evidence that supports the allegations made by the complainant. My client is being falsely implicated."
However, hearing the counter arguments, the court remanded Shiney in three-day police custody.
Shivade moved an application, pleading that Shiney should be allowed to meet his family members on humanitarian grounds. The court allowed him to meet them for five minutes before he was taken away to the lock-up.
