Director: Girish Girija Joshi
Cast: Mithun Chakraborty, Mahesh Manjerekar, Riya Sen, Gulshan Grover, Seema Biswas, Ashwin Chitale, Ayesha Kaduskar and Hardik Thakkar
We have been witnessing kids’ films for quite some time now.. Many of them just fall flat but some enticed the souls and got popular amongst the kids. A new children film is on the block now and that is ‘Zor Lagaa Ke…Haiya’ that releases this Friday all over. Starring Mithun Chakraborty, Mahesh Manjerekar, Riya Sen, Gulshan Grover, Seema Biswas, Ashwin Chitale, Ayesha Kaduskar and Hardik Thakkar; the film is directed by Girish Girija Joshi.
Laddu (Hardik), Priya (Ayesha), Ritesh (Ritwik) and Karan (Meghan) are the four children, who live in the same buliding. They feel threatened by a beggar who lives near to their building. Since the beggar has a scarry type of appearance, kids have nicknamed him ‘Ravan’. The beggar is carrying a bag all the time with him. This makes the kids curious as to what is inside it! Everytime they plan to steal it, but everytime they fail as the beggar is smart. Eventually they decide upon building a small tree house in their building compound so that through it they can keep a watch on Ravan who stays on the road across their building. Ram (Ashwin) is a labourer on the upcoming new constructions in their complex, helps them build this tree house. They attempts and attempts to steal the bag. But after many attempts, the five kids land up being friends of Ravan and their tree house starts becoming the night abode for him. But there is a danger there and that is in the form of a ruthless builder Bakshi (Gulshan Grover), who decides to raze the tree for making way for a new gate in front of it for his commercial purposes. For this, he asks Gupta (Mahesh Manjerekar), his contractor on the site. How the five kids and the beggar Ravan fight with Bukhsi and Gupta to save their tree forms the rest of the film.
Debutante director Gisrish has successfully delivered the goods on screen. He has managed to put everything on the right place simply yet perfectly. The script is interesting and the story is fabulous. Bapi Tutul impresses with the music. Amitabh Verma writes catchy lyrics.
All the kids perform with such a ease that you love to say hats off to them. Mithun Chakraborty is great to watch in the role of a beggar. Gulshan Grover attarcts. Mahesh Manjerakar is superb. Riya Sen, in a cameo, impresses. Rest of the cast fills the bill also.
On the whole, ‘Zor Lagaa Ke…Haiya’ is a film to watch. It’s entertaining not only for the kids but also for the adults as there lies a kid always inside us.
