Movie Review: Maruti Mera Dost
Director: Manikya Raju
Cast: Chandrachur Singh, Ritika Srivasatava, Eric Nanda, Sushmita Mukherjee, Vindoo Dara Singh and Murli Sharma
Director Manikya Raju’s Maruti Mera Dost hits the screens featuring Chandrachur Singh, Ritika Srivasatava, Eric Nanda, Sushmita Mukherjee, Vindoo Dara Singh and Murli Sharma.
The film revloves around an eight years old Rameshwari (Ritika) who loses her mother at the time of her birth. She is brought up by her dad Kunwar Raghavendra Singh (Chandarchur Singh) who then re-marries so that she can have a mother. While Rameshwari’s stepmom Mohini is a kind soul of sorts, her mother Kokoi is diabolical character, a witch whose utter aim is grabbing Raghavendra’s entire property for which she even can go to kill the father and daughter. Kokoi starts troubling the little girl and becomes so cruel to her that Rameshwari starts seeking the help from the Lord Hanuman (Vindoo). Hanuman sends for her help a friend, Maruti (Erik) who is a small boy with super magical powers. When all the evil plans and things Kokoi does go flop, she comes to know that behind all this, it is Maruti. She then schemes a plan to create a misunderstaning between Rameshwari and Maruti and then she succeeds in it. Rameshwari herself asks Maruti to leave the home. As soon as, Maruti leaves the pplace, Kokoi starts doing the evil things to Rameshwari. How Maruti comes back and destroys Kokoi and her evil plans is what forms the rest of the story.
The film has been targetted at kids. But the director and the makers of the film even the writer have forgtton that today’s kids have grown up with the superior contents, which they watch on television and even on the celluloid (the foreign films made for kids). The special effects .. yes deserve marks. And this is all that attracts you. Besides that, there is nothing that can entice your souls. Story is poor. Screenplay is lackluster. Direction cannot be found. Nothing impressive is there on the canvas of this film.
After a long hiatus, Chandarchur Singh makes his comeback but with a kids’ film. He impresses you. Murli Sharma attarcts. Sushmita Mukherjee looks scary. Vindoo does well. Ritika Srivastava and Erik Nanda both loot the hearts.
On the whole, one should avoid it.
