Movie Review: Saawariya (2007)
Published by  Webmaster  at 11:33:34 am on November 9, 2007

Raj sings in RK Bar (what a homage to his grand father Raj Kapoor!). His heart fells for Sakina (Sonam Kapoor) who is awaiting the return of Imaan (Salman Khan). Raj, in all the best possible ways tries to woo Sakina, a shy girl who seems reclusive of herself.

For all Salman’s friends, it is a disappointing news that he is present for just 10 minutes in the film. Moreover, his character is left to the imagination of the viewers who strain their minds to explore his identity.

It is unacceptable to find the unreasonable bond between Imaan and Sakina, which is not explained throughout the movie. The film thoroughly leaves the viewers with an unassuming twist through its sad and tame climax.

The film has nothing new to narrate and this is the sole reason for its boring and ‘creative’ storyline. One wishes to see some bright sunshine, if not fireworks from Sanjay Leela Bhansali but Saawariya is immersed in the dark blue and green lights which turn out to be a sore in the eyes after a certain time.

Musically, the title track is the only hummable track from the film, while the remaining ones will be forgotten once you are out of the theatre.

Technically, Ravi K. Chandran’s cinematography matches the true vision of Hollywood. The art direction is creative and well crafted but gets redundant after the initial portions of the film.

Love is replaced by anguish and unfulfilled desires in Saawariya’s script which leaves the viewer’s disappointed with the loosely tied climax.

  5. ok……. i liked this movie a lot…… i dont get why people are saying that it was a waste of money….. there have been so many movies like om shanti om….. we’re all bored of the same thing….. now SLB made a different film but people didn’t appreciate it because it was different…. and more realistic…. i liked it so that’s all that matters to me and om shanti om was boring! it was a waste of time and money…….. nobody returns to the same place in their next life with the same face!

  19. 100% bullshit film, you better watch RGV’s AAG than this kind of a film.
This is no art, this is stealing peoples money. I went to see it in the theatre, half of the audience left the film unwatched.
