The BBC Asian Network should pride its content in its inherent impartiality, which only means that every little bit that goes out on air should, ideally, be researched and well thought of, to say the least…and especially when it’s about something as critical as passing a trade verdict on released films.
On its new film programme ‘Love Bollywood’ on Saturday morning, the producers had trade mag editor Komal Nahta on to talk about the three releases – ‘Aap Ka Suroor’, ‘Apne’ and ‘Awarapan’.
We won’t even get into his individual opinions on the three films because that’s subjective at the end of the day and we’re not sure we necessarily agree with him, but what took our goat was his gush-ology about ‘Aap Ka Suroor’ and its grand opening in India.
Alright, so the Himesh Reshammiya-starrer saw a heartening advance booking in India (on Monday morning, we’ll know the second week advance booking figures) but what the producers forgot to declare (or maybe, didn’t know) was that Nahta is reportedly an interested party in that film, or so we’re informed by our sources.
Correct us if we’re wrong please, but in the credits of ‘Aap Ka Suroor’, hasn’t he been credited as ‘Script Doctor’? And if that is indeed the case, he is hardly going to slam the film he’s been paid to doctor!
