The makers of ‘Don’ and its overseas distributors are having the last laugh! Despite mixed reviews (customary for any big film!), the mega Shah Rukh Khan-starrer has rocked the overseas box-office.
For one, being a thriller, it was not a typical overseas genre, yet its opening and subsequent performance in the overseas territories have made the other Bollywood release look dramatically pale in comparison.
In the UK, according to Neilsen EDI, the world’s box-office authority, ‘Don’ did more than £288,000 on its previews and opening weekend on 74 engagements. As on Tuesday morning, the box-office gross of ‘Don’ stood at approx £395,000, implying that the first week will close at a figure in excess of £0.5million, whereas ‘Jaan-e-Mann’ was at £106,000.
In the US, according to Variety Online, ‘Don’ grossed a staggering $805,000 on its opening weekend on 113 engagements compared to ‘Jaan-e-Mann’, which did $210,000.
‘Don’ has outdone its competing film by nearly 300% overseas!
ITS GOOD THAT DON AN ACTION FILM IS LIKED BY AUDIENCE BUT IT IS BEAUSE IT HAS AN INTERNATIONAL LOOK .
