According to Ehsaan Noorani, it is the choice of a film maker to decide which singer’s voice is to be used. Ehsaan also went on to praise Shankar when Daler commented that Shankar had copied his style of singing.
“Shankar is one of the finest classical trained singers in Mumbai. He can easily take on the pandit prefix.”
Recalling one of the incidents, Ehsaan said “Shankar was our first choice to sing Kal Ho Naa Ho. But we still went on the use Sonu Nigam’s voice for the song as his voice suited the song very well. Daler should understand this. He can go and feel hurt but to talk I legal terms is just not done.”
