The India International Film Academy Awards gala begins on Thursday but the stars have started reaching UK already. And the first of the lot is Shilpa Shetty, a star for whom UK is second home now. CNN-IBN Entertainment Editor Rajeev Masand caught up with her.
Rajeev Masand: Shilpa, welcome to CNN-IBN. You are here of course to attend the IIFA weekend and you are really being positioned as one of the big draws at the event. With your new wave of popularity, are you excited to be back in UK?
Shlipa Shetty: It always feels good when you are welcomed with so much love. I take it as a huge compliment. But I am really nervous because this is the first time that people here are going to see me doing what I actually do.
Rajeev Masand: You are performing on the award’s night. So, give us a sneak peek on what it’s going to be like?
Shlipa Shetty: I am performing on all the hits numbers that wished I could be a part of (laughs).
Rajeev Masand: Don’t be modest. You are very good dancer and am sure there has been no rehearsals also.
Shlipa Shetty: Are you crazy, I wouldn’t dare risk it. I take my work too seriously. So, am all rehearsed for the performance.
Rajeev Masand: Your birthday is on Friday and you are going to celebrate it with your fans and your colleagues.
Shlipa Shetty: Yes, that is interesting though, I am not thrilled about the fact that everybody is going to know how old I am (laughs). I am not someone who likes to celebrate my birthday. I just let it slip by every year.
Rajeev Masand: All your friends from Bollywood are going to be at this party. Is Jade Goody invited?
Shlipa Shetty: No, because she is not from Bollywood (bursts out laughing).
