Overseas Box Office: Aloo Chaat, a big disaster in UK market
Talking about Film Trade (overseas):
Bollywood’s flicks have not been doing well nor have been generating business in international markets of late. ‘13B’, ‘Delhi-6’, ‘Billu’ and now the latest release ‘Aloo Chaat’ all could not make trading for the makers. A big disappointment for them for sure. ‘Aloo Chaat’ is not generating good business even in India as well. The flick appears spice-less at the box office though in my individualistic opinion, the flick is a real entertainer. In UK market, it fell flat badly. But at the ticketing window, the story is altogether different. The previous releases are also going to fade away soon in the UK and other international markets. ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ is the only film, which continues churning out huge profits in international circuits. In USA, it collected $137 million (till date). In UK, it made £30 million (so far) and in Australia, it gained $18.5 million to date.
