Gitanjali Jewellery is sponsoring the annual International Indian Film Academy’ (IIFA) Awards, an event that promotes Bollywood outside of India. This year’s event, to be held June 7-9 in Yorkshire, will include a star-studded cricket match and a fashion show.
DTC Sightholder Gitanjali will host the cricket match featuring India’s biggest star Amitabh Bachchan. Bachchan is one Gitanjali brand ambassadors.
Bollywood divas Lara Dutta, Shilpa Shetty and Bipasha Basu will walk the Red Carpet for Gitanjali. The diamond company will also host the IIFA party, which will celebrate Shetty’s birthday.
Commenting on the association with IIFA Awards, Gitanjali Group President Mehul Choksi said it “will allow us to project our company internationally as a fashion house.”
The annual IIFA event is a showcase for the Indian cinema industry, targeting Indians that live outside of India.
During the event, Gitanjali will display the new jewelry collection Tesoro as well as a diamond studded cricket ball created by the firm. The ball will be auctioned at the awards ceremony and the proceeds donated to the IIFA Charity.
The ball is made of gold and studded with 30 carats of diamonds.
