According to Ehsaan of composing trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, Amitabh Bachchan had asked for a change of singer for the title track of Jhoom Barabar Jhoom.

Earlier, the song was sung by Daler Mehndi. Amitabh, reportedly, asked the song to be re- recorded in Shankar Mahadevan’s voice.

Ehsaan said, “The superstar wanted to continue with the vocals of Shankar Mahadevan after the success of Kajra Re and Rock n Roll Soniye from Bunty Aur Babli and KANK respectively.”
