Mahiya (Singer: Suzanne, Annie) Rating: 5.5/10
Here is a bag of new talents; ‘Mahiya’ has been composed by Annie, written by Sayeed Quadri and Asif Ali Baig, and rendered by Suzanne. There is another man, Pritam, who is doing the job of a music arranger but his name is quite enough to add to the credibility of the album. ‘Mahiya’ is not a sufiyana romantic number as it seems to be, rather it comes up as a surprising dance track with a decent pace. Overall, it does not do complete justice with its kind of music but nevertheless, it is not a dissapoinment and qualifies as a peppy number. DJ Suketu’s remix version of Mahiya involves Annie as a singer too. Click here to listen.
Maula Maula (Singer: Rafaquat Ali Khan) Rating: 5/10
Composed and sung by Rafaquat Ali Khan, Maula Maula comes as a traditional treat for the listeners. The song is situation based and does not grasp one’s mind without visuals. Maula Maula carries an authentic feel with it but does not manage to get better than the previous sufiyana tracks heard from the Bhatt camp. On the whole, it does not qualify as a star on the credits on Awarapan. Click here to listen.
