Sunday dose of television has been incomplete without the mythological dose of Ramayana where Lord Rama, fights evil, emerges as the real hero and is worshipped by one and all.
But have you ever imagined Ravana being termed as a hero too! Come November, ZEE TV viewers will witness the launch of a new show.
‘Ravana’, not on the lines of a mythological show but as a historical drama! To be directed by Ranjan Singh and backed by Film and Shots Productions (who have behind hit shows like ‘Time Bomb’ and ‘Pancham’ to their credit).
Divulging the details of the show, writer Chandan Singh explains “Ravan has been portrayed in a negative light so far. He is known as Sita’s kidnapper but what people don’t know is that he was a big pandit and a powerful man. His real persona has been hidden from the audience and in this show you will see him as a warrior, a real hero!”
“The show will depict the political conspiracies in his life, which has been shot very authentically,” says the writer who has also penned for serials like Apradhi and Bhanwar.
Coming to the star cast, a host of actors have been zeroed in for this mega venture, namely Ravee Gupta, Rajendra Gupta, Narendra Jha, Deepraz Rana, Diwakar Pundir and Ujjwal Rana.
This is the first time ever that Ravee will get to share the screen space with her father Rajendra Gupta (he will play her on screen father too). “I am nervous as well as excited about working with my dad and can’t wait for the shoot to roll.” Talking about her character she says, “I play mother to the young ‘Ravan’ who grows big to become the greatest warriors of all times. The show will depict the human aspect of Ravan and his life.
It’s a not a run-of-the-mill character so I picked it up. I will don three distinct avatars – a tribal look before my marriage, an apsara look during my courtship and a royal look with all the finery when I become a mother,” smiles Ravee, who currently has Virasaat in her kitty and is all set to tie the knot with actor Manoj Bidwai in January.
Will this venture make the viewers re-think about Ravana’s image? Will he be worshipped like Rama and other mythological heroes? Lets wait and watch!

It would be good to see the story of Ramayan unfold from the opposite point of view but i hope the script writers in their enthusiasm for showing Ravan in a new light dont make him into a superhero..Ravan inspite of all his knowledge and power, was a demon who dared to challenge the Supreme Lord..i hope the producers keep that in mind..

Ravan is really a very good person. Valmiki just inorder to make rama god made ravan a demon. Ravana wrote the Shiva Thandava Stotra. He was a great scholar who is said to have written even the Lal Kitab. How can such a great person do bad things. Sita was kidnpped because Rama and Lakshman cut the nose ears and breasts of ravana’s sister Shoorpanaka. If Ravana wanted to marry her he could have, if he wanted to kill her he could have. but ravan didn’t do anything like that. He was a Eka-patni-vrathastha, He wanted to fight with Rama and Lakshmana because Rama and lakshmana not only insulted Shoorpanaka but also the entire women community, they had also killed a Shudra called Shambhooka while he was meditating. But due vibhushana Ravana’s younger brother that Ravana had to die. The Real Hero of Ramayana is Ravana. Let all believers of TRUTH welcome this wonderful serial. May TRUTH prevail. This is the first serial telling the truth about Ravana. There is no other devotee like Ravana. Vishnu in order to get Shudarshana Chakra offered his eyes to Lord Shiva. But Ravana offered his life to Shiva. How can such a great man do anything bad.

i have been watching the serial , and relly want to congratulate the team.i belived that Ravana was always been misunderstood, sita in fact was daughter of ravana, so blaming him of abucting her seems redundent. I like the serial so plz carry on .

Had Ravana killed Ram you would probably be worshipping Ravana instead of Ram. If British were still ruling India, you would still be believing British that Bhagat Singh was a terrorist.

ravan was actually one of the gate keepers of lord vishnu,but lord bramha sons put a curse on him tat he’ll be born on earth three times and will be killed by lord vishnu the three times.so ravan wasn’t at fault.
