Shootout At Lokhandwala is going to release tomorrow. The film marks the presence of an ensemble star cast, which includes names like Amitabh Bachchan, Sanjay Dutt, Suniel Shetty, Abhishek Bachchan, Viveik Oberoi and Tusshar Kapoor among others.
Shootout At Lokhandwala is based on a real life incident and inculcating songs in a story like the one Shootout… has needs situations which are appealing as well as realistic. The music of this film has been composed by Anand Raj Anand, Mika and Biddu. The lyricists are Dev Kohli, Dr. Palash Sen, Mika and Sanjay Gupta himself. The film is touted as the one of the biggest releases of the year and the songs are drawing quite a good amount of curiousity amongst the cinegoers.
The story of SOAL has been conceived after long conversations with people who witnessed the real incident which took place in the early 90s. Thereby, the tagline is ‘based on true rumours’.
The thriller is based on a real life police encounter between the Mumbai Police and underworld don Dawood’s henchmen lead by gangster Maya Dolas, played by Viveik Oberoi. Abhishek Bachchan is doing a special appearance. He plays the role of the cop Abhishek Mhatre, who triggers off the whole incident. Amitabh Bachchan plays the role of top cop Dhingra Interestingly; the film doesn’t have Amitabh and Abhishek sharing the screen space. Amrita Singh plays the role of an aggressive widow and mother of Maya Dolas. She uses a lot of abusive language to depict the fire in her character. The film basically shows the various emotions and mental states that the people involved in the 6 hours long encounter underwent.
Apoorva Lakhia and Abhishek share great rapport with each other. Apoorva had earlier directed Abhishek in Mumbai Se Aaya Mera Dost (2003) and Amitabh Bachchan in Ek Ajnabee (2005). The film also stars Sanjay’s Gupta close friend Sanjay Dutt. As Sanjay Gupta says, “Just the way like I can’t work without Sanjay Dutt, Apoorva Lakhia can’t work without Abhishek Bachchan.”
