Shootout At Lokhandwala is a reality based story, one of differences being that in real a male crime reporter covered the shootout but in the film, the makers have taken some cinematic liberty using a female reporter.
In 1991, Commissioner of Police Aftab Ahmed Khan (played by Sanjay Dutt) shot Dawood Ibrahim’s aides, including Maya Dolas (Vivek Oberoi) and Dilip Bua (Tusshar Kapoor). This caused a massive uproar as Khan had to face inquisition from his own department and legal charges of human rights violations.
