The promos of this film have been hitting the TV screens for quite some time injecting interest inside you to go and watch it. And now it erupts in theaters today. Ronnie Screwala produces this enterprise under his banner UTV Motion Pictures. Umesh Shukla directs this offering that stars Kunal Khemu, Sonu Sood, Soha Ali Khan, Paresh Rawal, Deepal Shaw, Johny Lever, Razzak Khan, Avtar Gill and Asrani.
We have been witnessing nonsensical comedies since long on Bollywood front and for some years, we’ve watched many on the celluloid. ‘Dhoondte Reh Jaoge’ too travels on the same path, but it holds some distinction and that is its story, which normally is found missing in the comedies churned out in Hindi cinema. Although there is a story in this film, but be warned – don’t use your mind to watch this rib-tickling comedy. Just view it as it unfolds on the screen. This way, it entertains you. Don’t go deep inside the theme, else you would be welcome with a hard punch on face. The movie is silly from all angles being laced with a ridiculous storyline and absurd jokes … nonetheless it works with the audiences. The film surely sends laugh on your face.
Everyday’s tensions have turned a man sad and upset, so in order to relax yourself, try this funny film, which will certainly calm your nerves.
The film is about two individuals – Anand (Kunal Khemu) who is a chartered accountant and Raj (Paresh Rawal) who is a film producer. Both design a plan to churn out a flop film and eventually make it with a meager amount. The movie is made on a ridiculous script written by a hilarious writer and it takes instances from ‘Sholay, ‘DDLJ,’ ‘Gaddar’, Lagaan’ and many other super hits of the past. They believe that once the film is released in cinemas, the viewers would reject it on the first day. And their plan is to decamp along with the remaining big amount of the film budget. But to their surprise, the flick turns out to be a big hit with packed houses everywhere. Anand and Raj now plans to escape with the mammoth earned money because the financers and distributors are after them for their share from the huge profits.
What makes the film works is the emphasis, which has been put on the entertainment quotient rather than putting on marinating the flow of the story. Now come to the points where the movie lacks. Post interval, the film becomes fast. And why has huge time been consumed on the making of the film titled ‘Solay Se Lagaan Tak’ (funnily titled) by Anand and Raj? Weird, because almost the whole film revolves around this and nothing is left to watch?
Umesh Shukla impresses with the efforts shown as a director of this venture. He keeps the interest level alive throughout. The music by Sajid-Wajid is not appealing at all.
Kunal Khemu displays histrionics. Paresh Rawal and Johny Lever are the ones, who loot the hearts with their marvelous acting prowess. Sonu Sood delivers the good aptly. Soha Ali Khan does justice to her role. Dilip Joshi is wonderful to watch for.
On the whole, ‘Dhoondte Reh Jaoge’ is a funny film, which promises to relax you in state of tension.
