John Abraham and Dhoni on no smoking campaign…
First the smoking got banned in Indian movies some years back and recently the ban got lifted bringing the sigh of relief for the filmmakers. Now the Indian health minister A Ramadoss is planning to launch an anti-smoking campaign for which he has roped in the macho star John Abraham from the world of entertainment and the dashing cricketer Dhoni from the fields of cricket to doll it up.
About this campaign, the minister says, “We were thinking of some sports personalities like Sachin Tendulkar. A lot of them want to be part of it too… In fact, the entire cricket team wants to take part in the anti-tobacco campaign. Dhoni was very enthusiastic. He’s appearing in one of the advertisements; it’ll come out soon. A lot of actors – including John Abraham – also will join in. It’s not on air yet, but they are starting to build this campaign.”
The efforts being churned out are targeted to youth.
He further adds, “Today Dhoni is a star. In fact, I wanted to bring in Leander Paes, Viswanathan Anand, Bindra, Saina and Sania in one campaign – the entire youth fraternity saying that smoking is bad. It’s big and ambitious and I know it’ll take time to pull it off, but it will be huge and we are trying to do it.”
