Music Review: Aa Dekhen Zara
Producer: Viki Rajani
Director: Jehangir Surti
Cast: Neil Nitin Mukesh, Bipasha Basu, Rahul Dev and Sophie Choudhary
Music: Gourav Dasgupta and Pritam
Eros Entertainment’s Aa Dekhen Zara’s music is out in the market. Produced by Viki Rajani, the flick is directed by Jehangir Surti and stars the likes of Neil Nitin Mukesh, Bipasha Basu, Rahul Dev and Sophie Choudhary in the main leads. To do the music, Pritam Chakraborty and Gourav Dasgupta have been roped in. Sheershak Anand, Irshad Kamil , Syed Gulrez and Prashant Pandey pick up the pen to dash off the lyrics for this album, which has been released by Eros Music. Neil Nitin Mukesh’ s last venture was a thriller and this one too emerges a thriller. Since Bipasha Basu is there in the film, it becomes sure that the soundtrack must have some electrifyingly catchy numbers to shake the hips on. And yes, it has…! So let’s check out the album now…
1): Mohabbat Aapse (Akriti Kakkar)
Akriti opens up the soundtrack with a romantic number, ‘Mohabbat Aapse’ and impresses with her brilliant rendition. The track begins with a spongy melody on the flute and then progresses towards the splendid singing by Kakkar. The use of the instruments appeals to the ears. The lyrics hold values. The music scored by Pritam gels well with the throw of the song. You should go for repeated hearings.
Rating: 8/10
2): Gazab (Sunidhi Chauhan and Shaan)
The next song, ‘Gazab’ has Western pace with an Indian base attached to it. Sung averagely by Sunidhi Chauhan and Shaan, the track becomes uninteresting when one starts noticing the ordinary lyrics by Irshad Kamil. The composition by Pritam is a big letdown, as it has no sparks at all. Avoid it.
Rating: 1.5/10
3): Gazab – Club Mix
DJ Sani provides remix to this version and falls flat with the efforts.
Rating: 1/10
4): Aa Dekhen Zara (Neil Nitin Mukesh and Sunaina)
Neil Nitin Mukesh steps into the field of his father and grandfather while singing the song for this film. He makes his singing debut with this foot-tapping number, ‘Aa Dekhen Zara’. Last year we heard the everlasting boisterous song of Kishore Kumar, ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’, which was re-made for the film named on the same words, ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’. And now we hear again the electrifying number of Kishore Kumar, ‘Aa Dekhen Zara’ (from the 1981’s film Rocky composed by R.D. Burman) that was re-made for this film, which has been named on this track’s words. This trend is progressing a lot in Bollywood. Anyway both of these numbers disappoint a lot since no one catches and even pass close to the legendary and very talented Kishore Kumar’s voice. Neil too fails to register any impact on the listener with his voice. Admit, talent of singing is in his genes and he had better to follow the path of that singing, his father and grandfather were associated with (slower, romantic and melodious versions). Sunaina provides good support to Neil. The lyrics attract. The music arranged by Gourav Dasgupta does send chill through the body but when we compare it to R.D. Burman, his appears average. The visuals, featuring the sexy Bipasha Basu and Neil, leave an impact. You may give it one hearing.
Rating: 2/10
5): Aa Dekhen Zara (Dibyendu Mukherjee and Shweta Vijay) – Lounge Mix
The lounge mix carries the singers – Dibyendu Mukherjee and Shweta Vijay to do the honors. Both deliver the goods with okay results nothing big to write home about. The composition is just about okay.
Rating: 1/10
6): Rock the Party (Sunidhi Chauhan and Shweta Vijay)
Sunidhi Chauhan and Shweta Vijay team up to render ‘Rock the Party’. Both seem to be in their elements. With style, they croon the lines. A highly energetic track, it will surely take you to the dance floors. The lyrics enthrall and so does the composition by Gourav Dasgupta. Listen it time and again and play it in your party.
Rating: 8/10
7): Power (Dibyendu)
Dibyendu comes up with ‘Power’ to render it. Yes, it should be admitted that he does the job with finesse. A fast paced number, its lyrics carry weight. The composition excites you too.
Rating: 7/10
8): Power – Club Mix
The number appears in a club mix too. The remix version is not as good as the original was.
Rating: 2/10
Overall:
It’s a disappointing album altogether. There is nothing extra-ordinary to rave about except two/three tracks. Rest of the album is a big letdown.
Overall Rating: 2.5/10
