DOMESTIC BOX OFFICE: As was expected, the dull and monotonous storyline of the not-so-hatke love tale of the Tusshar Kapoor and Ayesha Takia hasn’t gone down well with the audiences as the film poor opening at all the circuits. The box office collection of ‘Kya Love Story Hai’ has dipped further down making it a poor week for an opening release. Meanwhile, the last weeks’ releases are doing well at the box office including the surprise release ‘Bheja Fry’ and the strong ‘Namastey London’.
This week at the box office:
• Bheja Fry: This medium budget 50-lakh rupees film is showing signs of becoming the first real superhit of the year. In its second week, the film continues to do steady business and has already been declared as a ‘hit’ all over. The film collected Rs. 2,32,207 avg./print this week. The film is doing good business at all the major and small centres and is growing day by day.
• Namastey London: The film continues good business even in its fifth week and is already a hit in the North and scoring above average elsewhere. The Akshay Kumar factor and Katrina’s cool looks along with the adorable theme of the film has been appreciated by the audiences all over. The film collected Rs. 1,00,499 avg./print this week.
• Kya Love Story Hai: The box office report for this film is not as commendable as the title suggests. The film has crashed at the box office and the film has been declared a flop after its first week itself. The film has done poor business all over and the collections are expected to dip down further. The film has collected Rs. 92,318 avg. /print this week.
• Big Brother: The Sunny Deol starrer is doing good business in the North whereas it’s below par elsewhere. It is above average in East Punjab, Bihar and Rajasthan, average business in Delhi/UP, and has been declared a flop elsewhere. Overall the film is doing below average business. The film has collected Rs. 57,860 avg. /print this week.
• Provoked: The Aishwarya Rai starrer has been declared a flop at the domestic box office. The film has collected Rs. 46,304 avg. /print this week.
• Namesake: The film has done average to above average business at selected centres especially at the cineplexes in the metros. The Mira Nair film has collected Rs. 44,298 avg. /print in its fifth week.
• Shakalaka Boom Boom: The film has been declared a flop in its third week itself. The collections have dipped low week after week and the film collected Rs. 28,995 avg. /print this week.
