3. Shah Rukh Khan: Living legend on a roll
Here comes the King of Bollywood. Now, didn’t we all love him in his stint as the quiz master in KBC? This and many more surprises were in store for his fans across the globe as the darling of Bollywood went from big to bigger star status with even bigger box office successes in the form of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Mohabbatein, Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham, Devdas, Kal Ho Na Ho, Swades, Chalte Chalte, Veer Zara, Main Hoon Na, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and Don. Shah Rukh also came up with some not-so-successful films like Duplicate, Dil Se, Baadshah, Josh. His home productions came up with a mix bag of films like Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani, Paheli, Chalte Chalte and Main Hoon Na. Even overseas he’s recognized as the most popular movie star and has win laurels both here and abroad. The coming years promise to deliver more hits from this amazingly spirited ‘hero’ of millions.
4. Govinda: From Hero No.1 to Zero No.1
He was hailed as the king of comedy and now he is no longer the safest bet for any director, not even for his favourite, David Dhawan. The duo delivered some memorable films in the No.1 series but soon the magic faded away with monotonous scripting and poor storyline. Chi Chi’s 10 years of darkness in the industry included films like Dulhe Raja, Shikari, Jori Ka Ghulam, Hadd Kardi Aapne, Jodi No.1, Albela, Sandwich. Then, Govinda tried out his hand at politics. As was expected he got a seat in the Parliament. But his return on the big screen has not been that of a solo hero anymore. He acted in Bhagam bhag and Salaam-e-Ishq where his roles have been chopped off in the better interests of the film. It seems like Govinda’s glorious have ended in Bollywood and he would be better off concentrating on politics for good.
5. Akshay Kumar: 10 years of success for Khiladi
One of my personal favourites made a shift from the action genre towards more romantic and comic roles and was more successful playing such characters. He played lovable characters in films like Dhadkan, Ek Rishta, Ajnabee, Andaaz, Aitraaz, Khakee, Waqt, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye and Jaan-E-Mann. Akshay was then appreciated and successful in comic roles where he gave stiff competition even to the likes of Paresh Rawal and Johny Lever in films like Hera Pheri, Awara Pagal Deewana, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi, Garam Masala, Phir Hera Pheri, Bhagam bhag and the latest Namastey London. The khiladi of Bollywood has certainly made a mark for himself and isn’t he cute in those comedy flicks? You bet!
