Rang De Basanti, Omkara, Lage Raho Munnabhai, Dhoom 2 and Kabhi Alvida Na Kehnaa Lead Bollywood Award Nominations
New York, April 29, 007- South Asian and Bollywood movie lovers in the United States, Canada, Caribbean etc have anxiously been awaiting the results for the prestigious list of nominees for the best performances and work in films of the prior year.

The performers, film-makers and technicians who have received the top five rankings have now been declared for the nominations for the Bollywood Movie Awards 2007 to be held on Saturday, May 26th, 2007 at the Nassau Coliseum, New York, where the winners will be declared. The Bollywood Movie Awards were instituted with a vision that the people of Indian origin, living outside of the South Asian subcontinent retain a warm and vibrant link with their motherland through the medium of movies.

Mr. Kamal Dandona, Chairman of the Bollywood Group of Companies, through this event, envisages building a further bridge for cultural exchange to eliminate the geographical barriers and boundaries via media, events, and entertainment. He said, “This year, I am particularly impressed with the diverse genres and treatments of the nominated films. Indian cinema is evolving and manifesting itself at great speed, continuously advancing the standards film-makers and artists must hold themselves to. It is perhaps one of the most exciting times to be a Bollywood movie-buff.”

The Bollywood Movie Awards 2007 will take place on Saturday, May 26th, 2007 at the Nassau Coliseum, New York and will feature performances by not by just a handful of stars, but a galaxy of them. The celebrities slated to perform at this year’s magnum opus include Bipasha Basu, Arjun Rampal, Vivek Oberoi, Urmilla Matondkar, Soha Ali Khan, Neha Dhupia, Kangana Ranaut. Mona Singh (“Jassi Jaise Koi Nahi” and winner of “Jhalak Dikhlaja”), UK’s Raghav, Pakistan’s top actress and singer Shahida Mini, Caribbean Singer Ricki Ramdehal and Pakistan’s popular singer –Waris Beg.

Other stars confirmed to attend are Danny Glover, Mira Nair, Phylicia Rashad of The Cosby Show, Anupam Kher, Kirron Kher, Upen Patel, Lage Raho Munnabhai Director, Raj Kumar Hirani, Anuj Saxena and many others. State Farm Insurance will be one of the official sponsors of the Awards ceremony.
