All the movie buffs, it’s time for some zooming cars after the bike show in the Dhoom series. Get ready for yet another adrenaline rush experience. After speed chase with Hayabusa Kawasaki bikes in Dhoom & Dhoom2, Yash Raj takes on NASCAR, high speed car racing. Get ready for high end cars like Chevrolet, Ford and Dodge racing and crashing on high speed tracks in this survival of the fittest game. Though, the racing shots may look ordinary to some racing buffs but nevertheless, the general Indian audience will feel the on-track excitement.
After the runaway success of Salaam Namaste, director Siddharth Anand’s Ta Ra Rum Pum is a YashChopra Production. Needless to say, this one has Saif Ali Khan and Rani Mukherjee in the lead. The film carries a social message for all without losing the commercial aspect of Yash Raj films. Ta Ra Rum Pum’s story is about love, inspiration and the ‘never say die’ spirit.
Let’s check out the various aspects of this summer release:
Location and Camera: The film has been shot in New York. Director Siddarth Anand does it fine with the help of his camera man Binod Pradhan to shoot the repeated Times Square and Brooklyn bridge in different angles. Pretty innovative camera work by Binod Pradhan.
Story: Saif plays Ranveer aka RV in the film. He starts out as a pit stop tyre changer and goes on to make it big with the help of Harry (Jaaved Jaffery), his manager. No Egglactly from Jaaved this time. He is seen a meticulously crafted serious role.
At the same time, he falls in love with Shona aka Radhika (Rani Mukherjee). He gets an opportunity to show some moves along with Radhika in the romantic numbers. Success follows soon and he becomes the number 1 race car driver in U.S.A. as well as the proud father of two kids, Priya (Angelina Idnani) and Ranveer (Ali Haji).
Now, Mr Hero beomes irresponsible and takes a huge loan to buy a Merc and a lavish house. Fate changes and Saif has great fall from his career heights due to an accident. He is left jobless and bankrupt. Mad in love, Radhika had left her education incomplete and the consequence is that she has to work in a low profile job. Hence, lesson number 1– Pehle Padhaai…Phir Sagaai.
The children too are told that this situation is all but part of a reality show. No cribs is something that I surely liked about the film. The final 30 minutes are nothing short of a rocking experience for cine watchers as Saif rises back from the ashes to get back his lost position and status.
Music: Vishal-Shekhar are back to give another hit to the masses with their melody. The soundtrack offers no surprises and has a typical Yash Raj feel in all its songs.
Choreography: Vaibhavi Merchant moves are pretty good and synch in rhythm on the tunes of Vishal-Shekhar. All the songs are choreographed keeping in mind soft moves and pleasurable watch for the audience.
Acting: Saif is not lost in the lights of Shah Rukh or Salman or Aamir anymore. The actor is getting better with every performance. Rani Mukherjee enacts her character smoothly and she interprets various emotions successfully. Jaaved is good in a serious role. Victor and Shruti are good. Child artists Angelina Idnani and Ali Haji are adorable.
Direction: Siddarth Anand has an ability to infuse wit with woe. The emotional scenes are shot well. The race sequences are superbly shot with each frame capturing every nerve of the emotion.
The film has had a low first day opening but it is going to attract the crowds in the near weeks. Ta Ra Rum Pum is a must watch for all people who would like to see something cool with a meaning. Just cheer and go about saying Ta Ra Rum Pum…
