Rakeysh Mehra’s talks about his forthcoming film Delhi6 which releases this Friday!
Q-The buzz has been the movie ‘Delhi 6′ is close to your real life?
So how far is it true?
A- Actually the film is not about Delhi. Delhi6 is just a code ID. There are reasons for choosing old Delhi. I belong to old Delhi and I wasn’t very clear about why I’m making this film. I did it because I wanted to solve the mystery as to the real reason why I’m attempting this film.
Q- So what is so unique about the story of the film?
A- It is the story of a young boy called Roshan Mehra. He comes from the US for his grandma who is ailing and she wants him to return to her land. It’s a simple story in a complicated world."
Q- The buzz is that it was difficult for you to hunt for the lead pair?
A- We did a screen test all over the world for Abhishek’s character but I wasn’t happy. We thought of zeroing in many actors here too. Then Abhishek told me that when you like something you have to make it happened. He stretched his dates and I arranged my schedule and this happened. Sonam’s character interpretation was bang on. She surprised me and I think she will keep surprising others too.
Q.Do you think the expectations are going to be big because of ‘Rang De Basanti’?
A- Yes, that movie is close to my heart. But since I give each movie my best shot, the hopes remain and there’s a lot of confidence also.
