Veteran director Shahrukh Mirza decided to launch his son, hoping to do what many father have done before, provide a source of income for their already big-pocket children.
This is a love story like all others. It is cinema from the age of the 70s which hardly works these days. The film is a mixture of Anand and Kal Ho Na Ho, meaning someone dies at the end. So keep handkerchiefs at the ready…
Rehan lives with his mother (Zeenat Aman) and a sister. He lives at a recluse mountain top which is focal point of many a tourist. And such tourist is Anjana, who arrives at the hill-station with her father. Anjana wants to see the locales of this beautiful place and Rehan is given the job of escorting her around. Anjana may be a rich man’s son, but she has an illness and may not live long. This doesn’t stop Rehan from falling in love with her…
But then Anjana gets well and Rehan falls ill…
The film has two plus points, the acting of Rehan, and the music. Rehan has a good career for him if he keeps his head on his shoulders. The boy can dance well and looks perfect in front of the camera. I wish him well.
Actors Rajesh Khanna and Zeenat Aman look out of place and fail miserably in the comedy scenes. This idea has not worked and should not have been included in the film – period!
The film may have had the potential to do well had it been released 30 years ago. The audience these days wants a much more thought provoking film, this is not that.
