Cast: Sushmita Sen, Shiney Ahuja, Maushmi Chatterjee
Director: Tanuja Chandra
Producer: Anurradha Prasad (B.A.G. Films)
Dr. Rihan (Shiney Ahuja) meets a popular singer – Kria (Sushmita Sen), while doing his rounds at his hospital. Rihan is a workaholic while Kria is a renowned and popular singer. The meeting between the two, on a rainy night, is about to change their lives forever…
The introvert doctor crumbles under Kria’s persistence and agrees to go out with her and her ‘mad’ family. Kria has a very smart 12 year old son, who seems to know everything that there is to know, and a mother (Maushmi Chatterjee) who is a hard nut to crack. Not only that, Kria has a fun loving twin sister, who brings a smile to everyone’s face. Trying to resist these new people, as he doesn’t want his life to change, he begins to warm towards their huge amount of friendship and fun. And, of course, he falls in love with Kria!
However, things take a drastic turn and a painful situation develops, with both Rihan and Kria about to face the biggest crisis in their lives.
The rich look of the film, with a sky high production value, is it’s main plus point. The chemistry between the mother and son is where the story mostly revolves around, and ample time is given to it, but the screenplay is very slow. The audience generally don’t feel anything for the characters and this is a major letdown.
The only scene of the film to talk about is the climax, and it is here where the film’s director (Tanuja Chandra), has done an amicable job. Other than that the whole film is slow and quite simply ‘boring’.
Anu Malik’s songs are suited for the mood of the film, but will not be liked by the general public, as they do not value a hearing more than once.
Amirr Sayyed’s cinematography is first-rate.
Maushami Chatterjee plays a dual role, one of the mother and the other of the dumb twin sister. She has given a good performance as the sister, but as the mother she is very bleak and out of forms. She tries to talk in English when there is no need for it, and on top of that her English pronounciation leaves you with a bad taste in your ear (!).
Kim Sharma has been wasted in the film, as she hardly has a role, and one wanders as to why she chose to appear in it. Kim needs to quickly look at her career graph and see where she wants to go with it, or else she might be another has-been Bollywood babe.
As to the main lead, the beautiful Sushmita Sen, she looks stunning. She acts to a standard that is acceptable but she also could have done much better.
Julian as Sushmita’s son is OK but his dubbing is totally out of sync and that is a major let-down.
Shiney Ahuja’s acting makes you think that you are still watching his previous release Woh Lamhe. Even his wardrobe is similar as that film. Being a doctor he should wear more suitable clothing yet he is seen wandering around in cargo pants.
A disaster is what this is…
