An average week for Bollywood as medium budget films were able to do good business at some places. Out of the two releases this week, ‘Bheja Fry’ surprisingly did good business after a slow start. Whereas, Sunny Deol’s ‘Big Brother’ has managed to do good business in UP, Rajasthan and Punjab due to the ‘deol’ factor but has been a loser at the metros. Both the films may well be a success because of the medium budget involved in production.

This week at the box office:

• Bheja Fry: The surprise release this month came in the form of this Sunil Doshi film which after a slow start picked up well especially at the cineplexes in metros. The film is a low budget film that has managed good business in its first week itself. The film is running well at most places and has earned Rs. 2,66,430 avg/print in its first week.

• Namastey London: The Akshay-Katrina starrer has been declared a hit in the North with average to above average collections elsewhere. The film is doing exceptional business in Delhi, UP, East Punjab, Mumbai, West Bengal and Rajasthan. Overall the film has already earned Rs. 4 crores approx in its fourth week. The film is expected to maintain its steady business in coming weeks too. The film has earned Rs. 1,63,139 avg./print this week at the box office.

• Big Brother: Guddu Dhanoa’s much-delayed film is fairing well in the North and is doing below average at other places. The ‘Sunny Deol’ factor is working well for the film as it does good business in UP, Rajasthan, East Punjab and Bihar. The film is a no-show at the metros. It managed to earn Rs. 1,33,642 avg./print in its first week.

• Provoked: The Aishwarya Rai starrer sank without a trace at the box office considering the buzz it created before its release. The film has been declared a flop and it managed to earn Rs. 73, 910 avg./print this week.

• Namesake: Finally, an offbeat subject got audience in the domestic curcuit too. The Mira Nair film has managed above-average collections overall. The film is strongest at the major centres mostly at the select multiplexes in metros. The UTV productions’ film managed to earn Rs. 67,020 avg./print in its fourth week.

• Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee: Another film that fizzed out at the box office this week was this multi-starrer which was declared a flop in its first week itself. The film managed to earn Rs. 47,147 this week.

• Shakalaka Boom Boom: Despite all the promotional hype, this Suneel Darshan film has been declared a flop venture in its second week itself. The film earned Rs. 47,122 avg./print this week.
