Bobby Bedi and Sheetal Vinod Talwar produce ʽThe Stoneman Murdersʼ under the banner Kaleidoscope Entertainment Pvt Ltd. Directed and written by Manish Gupta, the film is a suspense thriller and stars Kay Kay Menon, Arbaaz Khan, Rukhsar and Vikram Gokahle in the lead roles.
The film, based on the real-life incident of serial killings by a ruthless killer dubbed as the ʽStonemanʼ(because he kills the people through this way). The movie takes place in the city of Mumbai, where serial killings are taking place at a rapid pace. The serial killer has claimed his fifth victim. The case has minor interest of the Mumbai police. But there is one person, who takes huge interest in this case, he is a suspended sub-inspector Sanjay Shelar (Kay Kay Menon). He hopes high that he will track this killer down and then re-enter the police force again. He has one support to investigate this case. And that is from the AIG Satam (Vikram Gokhale). AIG provides him secret aid to Sanjay. However, posing as the biggest roadblock to Sanjay is Inspector Kedar Phadke (Arbaaz Khan), the officer who is in-charge of the case. Both of them do the investigations and amidst all, their ways clash. And the killer still does not stop and continues to haunt the streets of Mumbai, claiming victim after victim. Who does solve the case and reveal the identity of the Stoneman, is the climax of this suspense story?
Manish Gupta, who has written Ram Gopal Vermaʼs ʽSarkarʼ picks up the pen to write the story and screenplay of this vehicle. He takes the real life incident of the stone man killings happened in the 80s and then made the story around this them. He makes his directorial debut with this film also. The story and screenplay both register impacts and get the viewer glued till the end making the suspense element alive. Manish has succeeded in making a tight thriller, which keeps the viewer guessing the true identity of the killer. His direction is equally brilliant. Srikanth Naroj does a brilliant and catchy cinemotography. The soundwrok is great.
Kay Kay Menon takes the film to the heights with his remarkable performance. Arbaaz Khan is good to watch. Vikram Gokhale and Rukhsar are okay. Rest of the cast is average.
On the whole, ʽThe Stoneman Murdersʼ is the finest thriller churned out on Bollywood scene ever. Itʼs an appealing film to watch.
