Movie Review: Jugaad
Producer: Sandeep Kapoor
Director: Anand Kumar
Cast: Manoj Bajpai, Hrishita Bhatt, Vijay Raaz and Sanjay Mishra
Sandeep Kapoor churns out ‘Jugaad’ under the banner Promodome Films. The movie is directed by Anand Kumar and features Manoj Bajpai, Hrishita Bhatt, Vijay Raaz and Sanjay Mishra in the leading characters. The enterprise is based around the real-life incident of the sealing issue happened in Delhi that made headlines resulted in tremendous grief and heartburn to the people who got affected by it.
Since the film talks about the personal experience of the producer Sandeep Kapoor, the expectations were high from the director that he will be putting the story with great conviction and mastery on the celluloid but he could not do so. Further the destruction took place by the writers Bunty Rathore and Priyank Dubey who damage the total film with the badly penned screenplay. Due to lack of writing, the film looses the grip altogether and does not bind the viewer. Although the idea is unique and can be displayed brilliantly on the screen provided that the script is good and the direction is catchy. But the writers and the director did not try to make it attractive for the audiences.
’Jugaad’ is based on the MCD sealing in Delhi, this is the real first-hand experience of the successful CEO of an advertising agency. Under the sealing drive, the MCD locks the doors of the agency. The successful CEO uses his best connections to influence the MCD officials, but nothing succeeds. Here the journey of Sandeep (Manoj Bajpai) oozes out, who is left alone on the roads along with his team. The movie talks about the Jugaad (trickery and connections) dolled up by the main protagonist in order to re-establish his agency from scratch.
It’s a big letdown all the way from writing to the execution and this all makes the film fall flat. The music by Sachin Gupta and Krsihna is another disaster.
The brilliant actor Manoj Bajpai disappoints with his acting. Wonder…why does he do these kinds of film? He has his own class. He should go for the films up to his standards. Hrishita Bhatt is wasted and does not impress also with whatsoever was given to her to perform. Vijay Raaz do not attract at all. The rest of the cast is okay.
On the whole, ‘Jugaad’ is without any doubt laced with good story to make a film on. But the poor script and the destructive direction make it a disaster.
