Lovely Singh directed Kya Love Story Hai is a love story starring Tusshar Kapoor and Ayesha Takia in the lead roles. After the entire buzz and the hype, the film has finally seen the light. The film got everything that it wanted pre release – Good music opening and great marketing but post release, its content will decide the fate of the film. Well, to say the least I did expect the film to throw up some suprises so that I could say ‘Kya Love Story Hai’, but it rather ends up the other way round where I say the same words in sarcasm.

Kya Love Story Hai is a love triangle where two guys fall for the same girl. I would say that the film is for ‘time pass’ moviegoers as it hardly makes you jump in excitement or engross you in its emotions. The story has nothing new to offer.

Arjun, played by Tusshar, is a carefree young boy who lives his life to the fullest without bothering about his career. A cool character which I believe could have been carried well by Shahid Kapur instead. He falls for Kajal (Ayesha Takia) the first time he sees her aka love at first sight. He mingles with her and tries to impress her towards him.

Kajal had lost her mother years back and her father hardly manages to give any time to her. Arjun is reluctant of conveying his feelings to Ayesha. Meanwhile, Ranveer (Karan Hukku) enters into Kajal’s life and things change all of a sudden.

Here, Kaajal gets hold of the letter which Arjun had written for her without her reference. Arjun takes her suggestion whether the girl will accept his proposal or not. Now, Kajal’s answer changes Arjun’s life. She asks him to create his own identity. Thereby, Arjun is on a new mission now.

There, Kajal accepts Ranveer’s proposal of marriage. Arjun feels lost when he finds Kajal engaged with Ranveer. And, then things get complex for Ranveer and Arjun.

The screenplay is stretched. Apart from a few comic scenes and the scene in the beach there is hardly anything to remember once you are out of the theatre. Lovely Singh is good in getting the techniques right but not in the right frame. The film lacks originality on the whole.

A romantic film’s USP lies in its music as music draws the attention of the crowd. The music is composed by the man in top form, Pritam Chakraborty and the lyrics have been penned down by Shabbir Ahmed. Pritam has again managed to create cool melodies in this one with variance in every track. The cinematography is the highlight of the film alongwith its music. Dialogues by Niranjan Iyengar are ordinary.

Acting wise, Tusshar is likable in this film. He has the expressions which convey his thoughts. He shakes up well in Miss You Everyday too. Looks like, Tusshar fits such roles of a guy who cannot confront his love to his girl of dreams. Ayesha Takia is ultimate goddess. She is drop down gorgeous and ignites fire whenever she smiles on screen. She delivers her character with a natural flair.

Newcomer Karan Hukku captures the audience’s attention from his presence. He is a good looking boy on the block but needs to brush up his expressions and dialogue delivery. Kareena Kapoor rocks in her song.

Overall speaking, Kya Love Story Hai is a time pass film and drawing huge expectations will be foolish. Just enjoy and forget.
