Sanjay Gupta was to make Slumdog Millionaire but…
The popular filmmaker Sanjay Gupta is the one, who was to make ‘Slumdog Millionaire’ initially but could not…! Well, the fact is that Sanjay was on the verge of signing a deal with the author of the book, ‘Q & A’ on which the film is based around. But the author Vikas Swarup told him that the right had been sold tow Danny Boyle already. This was the reason otherwise this movie would have been named to Sanjay Gupta.
"I missed a hair’s breadth”, Sanjay said.
He further added, "I had read the book in 2005 and wanted to make the film on it. I wanted Homi Adjania, the maker of Being Cyrus, to direct it. We had met Vikas Swarup. But unfortunately the rights of the film were already sold to Danny Boyle."
But the fair Sanjay admitted also that had the film been made by him, it would not have got the recognition worldwide it received due to Danny Boyle.
"Also we do not have the kind of support Fox Searchlight gave to Danny Boyle. Who would have given me Rs. 75 crores to make a Slumdog Millionaire here," expressed Sanjay Gupta
