Farah Khan spent seven long days shooting for the title track of Om Shanti Om, featuring 30 A-list celebs
Farah Khan’s lavish mega-star song for Om Shanti Om, shot over seven long days, is finally being finished today. The last shot is being canned with Preity Zinta, and features 29 other actors (excluding Shah Rukh Khan)!
My song starriest!
Talking about the song, Farah says, “It’s the title track of Om Shanti Om.
It involves a scene where superstar Om Kapoor (SRK) has won an award and throws a party attended by many members of the film industry.
OSO is based on the film industry and spans two eras.
For the first time ever, Shah Rukh, Saif (Ali Khan), Salman (Khan) and Sanjay (Dutt) will be seen together on screen.
We made them get up on a bar, take off their jackets and dance and all of them look like rockstars!”
Talking about the lavish scale of the song, Farah says, “As a child, I loved the song John Johny Janardhan from Naseeb and always wanted to do something like that in my film.
It had many big stars of that time featuring in it, so I wanted to top that song. A month ago, Shah Rukh and I started approaching stars and they were so sweet. We personally met each one of them and they immediately agreed.
Jeetuji told us to give him just one hour’s notice, while Mithun flew in just a day before the shoot from Hyderabad. If some stars couldn’t do the shoot, it was either because they were out of the country or didn’t have dates.”
Garam over Dharam
Even though Saif, Salman and Sanjay Dutt had packed up for the day, they waited for Dharmendra to arrive on the set and shoot his act. When he did, the three boys too leapt into the frame and started dancing too!
Tushki gets shy
This is the first time Jeetendra and his son Tusshar are coming together on screen. So when Tusshar came on the sets, he told Farah that he was shy of dancing in front of his father, who is such a good dancer!
Sunil Shetty too was frazzled when he heard he was dancing after Govinda. How was he going to top such a feisty act?
But the girls were better behaved. After Tabu and Urmila’s act got over, they stayed back to cheer Lolo as she was dancing again after a really long time.
The only star who insisted on rehearsals, was Rekha. The rest came and practised on the sets.
Ajay Devgan was invited by SRK (through wife Kajol) but he didn’t come.
The excuse? He was in Delhi shooting for Sunday (even though he was in town).
Amitabh Bachchan sent his regrets as he is tied up with Abhishek and Ash’s wedding.
Fardeen Khan too was supposed to put in an appearance but couldn’t as his flight from Dubai was delayed.
Gifts to go!
Each star was gifted an expensive Tag Heuer watch, a Nokia mobile phone, a gold coin with Om inscribed on it, and a personalised T-shirt with “OSO – You Made It Big” written on it.
