Year 2007 has seen films like Salaam-E-Ishq, Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd, Hattrick etc which had a huge star cast and many stories stitched into one. Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee also belongs to a similar genre wherein five stories run together, thereby becoming a part of one single climax.
Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee is the story describing the present youth and the young generation which is driven by power and greed for money in many aspects. Thereby, we all look out for shorter routes to reach the height of success. Director Vikram Bhatt does complete justice to the story and narrates it in a smooth way.
Vikram Bhatt has a niche for good stories and we have experienced the same in the past with films like Raaz, Ankahee, Red, Awara Paagal Deewana and others. All his movies have a different story to tell, it is the treatment which makes the difference. And this time the director manages to hold on to the story till the very end.
The story of LMKK revolves around five friends, Manish (Aftab Shivdasani), Rajeev (Dino Morea), Jai (Sameer Dattani), Mona (Nauheed Cyrusi) and Ishita (Anjori Alagh). On a glorious day, they get drunk to decide on a bet. The bet is become the most happiest at the end of five years. Manish gets to decide the result of this bet after five years.
All the remaining four have their own definitions and perceptions about happiness. The journey of five years is a journey of hope, ambition, success, failure and happiness.
The movie gives a misconception that it is a fun film and a light entertainer. The belief is broken as the reels move on. The film on the whole is a serious one and deals with issues faced by today’s young blood. Post interval, the film becomes a little slow as signs of bad editing are displayed. A little bit of editing here and there would have just made it crisper rather than cheesy.
It is a sensible film with no known serious actors; thereby the fun loving crowd will get disappointed. The promos were quite less to pull the crowds till the theatre. A good movie turns out to be bomb at the box office if it is not promoted well. Here too, the marketing aspect is not taken into much consideration.
Manoj Tyagi has crafted a highly grasping screenplay which will be enjoyed by every sensible movie goer. Vikram Bhatt’s film Life Mein Kabhie Kabhiee has music by Lalit Pandit and lyrics by Sameer. Despite a variety of good tunes, there is something vital missing from the sound of the film, energy. Girish Dhamija’s dialogues are striking gold.
Individual performances wise, Dino Morea rocks. Aftab looks cute and innocent. Sameer Dattani is an actor who will make a mark in the near future. Sameer is steadily growing as an actor but needs to work on his expressions. Anuj Sawhney is good and conveys his role perfectly. Nauheed Cyrusi has also evolved into a better actor since her days in Lakeer.
Box office collections are predicted to stay dull until the movie picks up on a word of mouth. A movie like LMKK will struggle to go full house, all thanks to limited publicity and lack of star power.
